The past week has been unusually emotional for fans of Indian cricket and cinema. What was supposed to be a joyous celebration, the wedding of women’s cricket vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palaash Muchhal turned into a swirl of confusion and online chatter.

The couple was expected to marry on November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra, and excitement had been building steadily, with social media buzzing in anticipation. But just days before the ceremony, both the families announced that the wedding would be postponed because of health-related issues suffered by Smriti’s father.
What followed was a wave of questions and speculation. Fans quickly realised that Smriti had taken down all wedding-related posts from her Instagram, including moments from the proposal and engagement. With no explanation from either side, the Internet filled the silence. Reddit threads, Instagram discussions and conversations on X grew rapidly, each attempting to piece together what might have gone wrong.

In the middle of this, an anonymous Reddit post added unexpected fuel to the fire. It mentioned two choreographers from the Bosco group — Nandika Dwivedi and Gulnaaz — who had been hired to choreograph the wedding dances. Although the claims were entirely unverified, their names began trending as people tried to link them to the postponement. Rumours spread faster than facts, creating pressure on those who had nothing to do with the situation.
As the discussions became louder, Gulnaaz decided to address the issue openly. She posted a statement on Instagram, saying she had seen several false claims connecting her and her friend Nandika to the couple’s personal matters. She explained that knowing someone socially or being photographed with them should not be mistaken for involvement in their private decisions. She asked people to remain respectful and avoid jumping to conclusions, hoping to calm the growing frenzy.

Nandika, meanwhile, did not release any statement and made her Instagram profile private, likely to avoid the unwanted attention. On the other side, Smriti and Palaash have stayed completely silent. Neither of them, nor their families, have addressed the rumours or explained why the wedding posts were removed.
People close to the family and the wedding organisers have maintained that the delay was due to a medical emergency and beyond that, they have offered no details. Their decision to maintain privacy has only added to the mystery but it also reflects a simple truth, not every personal moment needs to be played out in public.

For now, fans continue to hope for clarity but the only confirmed fact is that the online theories hold no official backing. Until Smriti or Palaash speak themselves, all that exists is speculation and a reminder that even public figures deserve the space to handle personal matters away from the noise.
