If there’s one team that never misses a moment online, it’s Iceland Cricket.
Known for its sharp wit and playful humour, Iceland Cricket once again grabbed attention on social media after Italy’s memorable win over Nepal in the men’s T20 World Cup in Mumbai. The banter began when the International Cricket Council (ICC) shared celebratory images from Italy’s dressing room following their dominant performance.

Italy had thrashed Nepal by 10 wickets, securing their first ever victory in the tournament in just their second game. After their spinners restricted Nepal to a modest 123, the chase turned into a one-sided affair. Brothers Anthony and Justin Mosca delivered a commanding unbeaten opening partnership to seal the win comfortably.
The ICC captioned its post as, “Ecstasy in the Italy camp after their maiden win at the #T20WorldCup”

That one word was all Iceland Cricket needed.
“So much for the ICC’s anti-drugs stance. Here they are openly endorsing the use of ecstasy by the Italian squad,” Iceland replied, turning a simple celebratory phrase into a cheeky joke.

For context, ecstasy as a drug carries serious short-term health risks, including hyperthermia (elevated body temperature) and dehydration. In extreme cases, it can also cause life-threatening hyponatremia, where sodium levels in the blood fall dangerously low. Of course, the ICC had used the word to describe pure joy but Iceland’s tongue-in-cheek response quickly went viral.

On the field, Italy’s performance was equally lively. Chasing 124, they finished the job with more than seven overs to spare. Justin Mosca smashed three sixes and five boundaries in his unbeaten 60 off 44 balls, while Anthony blasted six sixes and three fours in a rapid 62* off just 32 deliveries.
Between Italy’s fireworks and Iceland’s humour, it was a night to remember.
