On the field, it was Ishan Kishan who stole the show. The left-hander played a brilliant knock of 77 off just 40 balls, mixing power with smart shot selection. Batting first on a slightly two-paced surface at the R Premadasa Stadium, India posted a competitive 175/7, a total that looked more than enough given the conditions.

Ishan Kishan controlled the middle overs beautifully, finding gaps and clearing boundaries even as wickets fell at the other end. His innings ensured India kept the pressure on throughout.

Pakistan, in response, struggled from the start. Jasprit Bumrah struck early with his trademark accuracy, while Hardik Pandya backed him up perfectly, damaging the top order. The early dismissal of Pakistan star batter Babar Azam further tilted the match India’s way.

With the bowlers staying disciplined through the middle overs, Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 114, sealing a commanding win and confirming India’s place in the Super Eight in resounding style.
