Bollywood’s legal troubles don’t seem to be slowing down. Just days after actor Rajpal Yadav made headlines over a cheque bounce case that even led to jail time, another familiar name has landed in serious difficulty.

This time, it is Ameesha Patel, best known for her role in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. A court in Moradabad has issued a non-bailable warrant against the actress after she failed to appear despite repeated summons. The latest order directs her to present herself before the court, warning that if she does not comply, police action could be taken to ensure her presence.
The case goes back to 2017 when Pawan Kumar Verma, owner of Moradabad-based event company Dream Vision, filed a complaint against her. According to the complaint, Ameesha had been invited to perform at a high-profile wedding event and was paid an advance of Rs 11 lakh. However, she allegedly cancelled her appearance at the last minute, which reportedly caused embarrassment and financial losses for the organisers.
Pawan Kumar Verma claimed that when he asked for his money back, repayment was delayed for a long time. He alleged that although part of the amount was eventually returned, a cheque issued for the remaining balance bounced when he tried to deposit it. That is when he decided to approach the court.

The matter has remained pending for several years. During this time, the court directed Ameesha to appear on multiple occasions but she did not show up. On some dates, her absence was reportedly linked to shooting commitments. On others, her legal team was said to be unavailable. With repeated delays, the court has now taken a stricter stand and made it clear that further non-compliance will not be accepted.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March 27, 2026. If Ameesha Patel fails to appear on that date, authorities may be instructed to arrest her and bring her before the court.
With Rajpal Yadav recently facing similar legal trouble, Ameesha’s case has once again put the spotlight on financial disputes involving film personalities and the serious legal consequences that can follow.
