Harry Brook Scripted History, Became The First T20 World Cup Captain To Smash….

It was a night to remember for England as their captain Harry Brook etched his name into cricket history on February 24. The 26-year-old right-hander from Yorkshire became the first captain ever to score a century in an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup match.

Leading England in the 2026 tournament, Harry Brook delivered a stunning performance against Pakistan in Pallekele. Chasing 165, he walked in at No. 3 and took control of the innings. Harry Brook brought up his hundred in just 50 balls, reaching the milestone with a boundary off Shaheen Shah Afridi on the fifth ball of the 17th over. His innings was packed with 10 fours and 4 sixes, showing both confidence and class. Interestingly, Shaheen Afridi dismissed him on the final ball of the same over.

Before Harry Brook’s achievement, the highest individual score by a captain in a Men’s T20 World Cup belonged to West Indies’ Chris Gayle, who scored 98 off 66 balls against India in Bridgetown on May 9, 2010.

Harry Brook’s century also made him the fourth batter to score a hundred in the ongoing 2026 edition, after Pathum Nissanka, Yuvraj Samra and Sahibzada Farhan.

In England’s T20 World Cup history, only Alex Hales (116 vs Sri Lanka in Chattogram, 2014) and Jos Buttler (101* vs Sri Lanka in Sharjah, 2021) had previously reached three figures. Now, Harry Brook has joined that elite list and done it as the captain.

Congratulations Harry Brook!
