In Madurai, Tamil Nadu, a horrifying incident has came to light where a father was physically abusing his own 12 years old daughter for almost a year. Not only this, he claims that his daughter is his second wife as he has tied “Mangalsutra” in her neck. He has warned his wife of severe consequences if in any situation she tells anyone anything about this matter.
This father who is 31 years old has been arrested by the police on the basis of information provided by a relative to the Child Helpline number.
In the words of Vijayendra Bidari, Police Superintendent, “Medical examination has confirmed sexual abuse and he has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences. Child Welfare Committee is now looking after the girl.”
What do such kinds of incidents tell us? Is this man mentally sick? And was his wife so timid that she got afraid of consequences and with this fear, let the most horrible thing happened with her daughter by her own father?
