In an age where every celebrity move is discussed online, dealing with criticism has become part of the job. Actress Janhvi Kapoor recently spoke about how she handles social media negativity and why she chooses not to let it affect her deeply.
In a recent interview, Janhvi Kapoor explained that she now views online criticism in a practical way. According to her, social media is largely driven by the need for attention, visibility and viral content. She feels that celebrities often become easy targets because their names help generate clicks and engagement.
She shared that once she understood this pattern, she stopped taking harsh comments personally. In her view, much of what is said online is less about the individual and more about gaining traction. Looking at it this way has helped her protect her peace and not internalise every negative remark.
When asked about the paid PR culture where both praise and criticism can be strategically amplified, Janhvi said she doesn’t let it take up space in her mind. She believes many people online are simply trying to do their jobs and earn a living, so she prefers to stay detached. For her, it’s important not to overthink something that is often transactional in nature.
However, she admitted that things become difficult when online criticism turns into personal attacks. Janhvi spoke about how painful it is to see her brother, actor Arjun Kapoor, face intense trolling. She said that while misunderstandings can be handled, bullying and harassment cross the line. According to her, such negativity only creates more negativity and sometimes the best response is to step away from it.
Last month, Arjun Kapoor shared an emotional birthday post for his late mother Mona Shourie Kapoor which left fans concerned. In the heartfelt note, he spoke about missing her deeply and hinted that life has been tough recently, while also expressing his determination to stay strong and keep fighting.
