Team India’s innings was a run-fest from the start. Sanju Samson stole the spotlight with a fierce 89 off just 46 balls. Earlier dropped from the squad, he completed an inspiring comeback, registering his third straight score of 89 or more in the tournament.
Sanju Samson built a strong 98-run opening partnership with Abhishek Sharma, who hammered 52 runs in only 21 balls. Ishan Kishan kept the momentum alive with a quickfire 54. In the final flourish, Shivam Dube smashed an unbeaten 26 off just eight deliveries, pushing India to a massive total of 255/5.
Chasing such a huge target, New Zealand struggled to find rhythm. Axar Patel struck early to apply pressure and Jasprit Bumrah delivered a bowling masterclass, finishing with remarkable figures of 4 wickets for just 15 runs.

Although Tim Seifert fought back with a solid 52, wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. The end came when Abhishek Sharma dismissed Jacob Duffy, sealing the victory in style.
The triumph carried extra emotion for Indian fans, helping the team move past the heartbreak of the 2023 ODI World Cup final loss at the same venue. This time, the story ended in glory.
