Winning a World Cup title brings not only glory but also a huge financial reward. After successfully defending their crown in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, team India received the biggest prize from the International Cricket Council.

According to the ICC’s announcement on Wednesday, India earned USD 2,639,423 (around ₹25 crore) as part of the tournament’s record USD 11.25 million prize pool. The amount marks the largest share among all the participating teams and reflects the ICC’s decision to increase prize money from 2024 onwards to boost financial rewards for players and promote the global growth of cricket.

Finishing just behind India were the runners-up New Zealand that received USD 1,422,692 (approximately ₹13 crore). The two semi-finalists, South Africa and England, were also rewarded with significant amounts, earning around ₹9.24 crore and approx ₹8.96 crore, respectively.

Among the other teams that performed well, the West Indies cricket team received USD 538,269 (₹4.97 crore) while Pakistan, which played all its matches in Sri Lanka, earned USD 522,692 (₹4.83 crore).

Further down the prize list, Zimbabwe secured USD 491,538, while Sri Lanka took home USD 475,962. Teams that reached the Super 8 stage, including Afghanistan, Australia and United States — each received USD 309,808. Meanwhile, Scotland earned USD 278,654 and Ireland received USD 271,731. Four other teams — Italy, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates and Nepal were each awarded USD 256,154. Finally, Canada, Namibia and Oman each received USD 225,000.

The ICC stated that this prize money distribution is part of its continued effort to provide better financial incentives for players and support the development of cricket across its member nations participating in global tournaments.
