‘Profit Hi Profit,’ Vizag Shop Owner Sells Over 100 Induction Stoves In 48 Hours During LPG Crisis

A conflict thousands of kilometres away is beginning to change daily life inside Indian kitchens.

The ongoing tensions in the Middle East, triggered by joint strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, have started affecting global oil supply chains. Nearly two weeks into the conflict, the ripple effects are now being felt in India, particularly in the form of an LPG shortage. The shortage has already impacted several major cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, where some restaurants and small food businesses have temporarily shut down due to a lack of cooking gas.

As the uncertainty grows, many households are searching for alternatives and one appliance is suddenly flying off the shelves, i.e., induction stoves.

A viral video shared online shows how demand for these electric cooking devices has skyrocketed at an electronics shop in Vizag (Visakhapatnam). The video was recorded by a man whose father owns the store. While walking alongside him, he asked how many induction cookers they typically sell in a normal day.

His father explained that under usual circumstances, the shop sells only two to three units daily. However, since news of the LPG shortage began spreading, demand has surged dramatically.

Curious about the sudden change, the man asked how many stoves had been sold recently. The answer shocked him and later surprised millions of viewers online. According to his father, the store had sold more than 100 induction stoves in just two days.

The video then shows the shop’s billing counter stacked with boxed induction stoves waiting to be purchased. At one point during the recording, around ten stoves were being billed at the same time.

What made the situation even more remarkable was the father’s foresight. The man revealed that his father had anticipated the spike in demand and had placed a large order for induction stoves five days earlier, before the rush began. Along with the stoves, induction-compatible cookware has also seen a significant rise in sales.

The clip quickly went viral, attracting over 4.2 million views and sparking a wave of reactions online.

Many viewers praised the father’s business sense, saying his experience helped him predict the demand perfectly. Others joked that his forecasting skills seemed better than those of some global leaders.

One comment summed it up neatly: sometimes experience can be more valuable than theoretical knowledge.
