Trouble doesn’t seem to leave the Pakistan Super League anytime soon. Just when one controversy begins to settle, another takes place, this time involving security concerns off the field and fresh allegations during a match.

According to reports, Punjab Police have raised serious concerns and even wrote a letter to PSL CEO Salman Naseer. The complaint involves Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi and his teammate Sikandar Raza. They are accused of bringing four visitors into a player’s room at the team’s five-star hotel, despite security officials denying permission.

The visitors, who were reportedly known to Sikandar Raza, are said to have stayed in the room for nearly three hours. Before this happened, the team’s liaison officer had formally requested approval from the Pakistan Cricket Board security and anti-corruption unit; however, the request was rejected. Even an attempt by team owner Saleem Rana to get approval from the league’s CEO was turned down.

Despite these refusals, the players allegedly went ahead and escorted the guests inside, reportedly ignoring resistance from security staff. Authorities have now called for a review of the incident and want strict steps to avoid such situations in the future.

The franchise has acknowledged the matter, stating that they are in touch with PSL officials and are looking into the situation.

Meanwhile, the team is already dealing with another controversy. During their recent match against Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars were penalised five runs for ball tampering. Fakhar Zaman has come under scrutiny and could face suspension if found guilty.

The issue surfaced just before the final over when umpire Faisal Afridi inspected the ball from bowler Haris Rauf and, after consulting Sharfuddoula, decided to replace it due to suspected alteration.

With back-to-back controversies, the PSL 2026 is facing increasing pressure to maintain discipline both on and off the field.
