Mohammed Shami played a key role in Lucknow Super Giants’ important win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2026, delivering a brilliant spell that set the tone for victory in Hyderabad.
Mohammed Shami finished with outstanding figures of 2 wickets for just 9 runs, including an incredible 18 dot balls, showing complete control over the game. After the match, he spoke about the importance of staying connected to cricket through domestic matches and maintaining peak fitness.
He explained that playing regularly helps players stay in rhythm. According to him, fitness is the base, only when a player is physically fit can they fully work on their skills. That is why he made sure to keep playing domestic cricket, ensuring he remained sharp and ready.
Mohammed Shami also highlighted how important this win was for LSG, especially after losing their previous match. He said that the team was determined to bounce back quickly, as building momentum is crucial in a long tournament like the IPL. He further added that winning this game brought confidence back into the squad.
The experienced fast bowler stressed that both skill and experience are necessary at the highest level. Without either, success becomes difficult. He also spoke about the importance of reading pitch conditions and match situations correctly.
One key adjustment Mohammed Shami made was using more slower deliveries. Having played at the same venue earlier with SRH, he knew how effective variations could be on this pitch. He noticed that other bowlers were also getting success with slower balls, which encouraged him to include them more in his strategy.
By combining fitness, experience and smart planning, Shami once again proved why he remains one of the most reliable bowlers in the game.
