Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered a powerful statement by crushing Chennai Super Kings and continuing their winning streak in the IPL 2026. The match turned into a batting spectacle, with RCB piling up a massive 250/3 in their innings.

The standout performer was Tim David who smashed an unbeaten 70 off just 25 balls, completely changing the game in the final overs. He got solid backing from Devdutt Padikkal, who scored 50 off 29 balls, and captain Rajat Patidar, who remained unbeaten on 48 from just 19 deliveries. The team entertained fans with an aggressive display, hitting 19 sixes and 14 fours.
RCB’s late surge was the real game-changer. They added a staggering 97 runs in the last five overs, with Tim David leading the charge. Devdutt Padikkal later shared that the team knew this phase would be crucial and kept pushing the scoring rate. He even stated that he is happy he got out as it allowed Tim David to take over and unleash his explosive batting.
Despite being overshadowed by Tim David’s heroics, Devdutt Padikkal continued his impressive form, scoring his second consecutive half-century. His innings included five boundaries and two sixes. The 25-year-old credited his recent success to improved confidence and belief in his ability to play at a higher tempo, something he had struggled with in the past.

Chasing such a huge target, Chennai Super Kings had a rough start. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ayush Mhatre and Sanju Samson could only manage 17 runs combined, putting the team under early pressure. Sarfaraz Khan tried to revive the chase with a quick 50 off 25 balls but regular wickets kept halting their progress.
Some resistance came from the lower order, with Prashant Veer scoring 43 off 29, Jamie Overton adding 37 off 16 and Anshul Kamboj contributing an unbeaten 19 off 12. However, their efforts only reduced the margin of defeat, as CSK were eventually bowled out for 207 in 19.4 overs, marking their third consecutive loss this season.
