For someone who plays with such confidence, it’s hard to believe that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is only 15. The young Rajasthan Royals batter has been taking on top bowlers in the IPL 2026 like a seasoned pro, even attacking the likes of Jasprit Bumrah without hesitation.
But every now and then, his age shows and fans love it.
During Rajasthan Royals’ match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, a light-hearted moment caught everyone’s attention. While assistant coach Trevor Penny was speaking on camera, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was seen in the dugout making playful expressions, clearly enjoying himself. It was a simple, fun moment which reminded viewers that behind the fearless batter is still a teenager.

However, his performance in the game did not match his usual standards. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was dismissed for a golden duck, becoming the first IPL wicket of debutant Praful Hinge.
Praful Hinge, on the other hand, had a dream start. The young pacer picked up three wickets in his very first over and finished with impressive figures of 4 for 34. His performance played a key role in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s dominant 57-run win, which also ended Rajasthan Royals’ unbeaten streak in the tournament.
Despite this setback, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s overall form has been outstanding. In just four innings this season, he has already scored two explosive half-centuries. His fearless approach and consistent performances have caught the attention of selectors and reports suggest that he is among the players being considered for India’s upcoming T20I series against Ireland in June.
If he gets selected and makes his debut, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi would become the youngest cricketer to represent India at the international level, breaking the record currently held by Shafali Verma.
Even after the loss, Rajasthan Royals remain strong in the tournament. They are currently at the top of the points table with eight points from five matches. Punjab Kings follow closely as the only unbeaten team, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad complete the top four.
As of now, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues to impress, both with his bat and his personality.
