Deepak Chahar added some humour and drama to the IPL 2026 during Mumbai Indians’ important clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. The Mumbai pacer mocked the now-viral “chit” celebration after taking the crucial wicket of KKR opener Finn Allen.
Deepak Chahar gave Mumbai Indians the perfect start by striking on the final ball of the opening over. Bowling a back-of-a-length delivery outside off stump, he forced Finn Allen into an aggressive shot attempt. The batter ended up getting an inside edge and the ball crashed into the stumps. Finn Allen had looked dangerous early in the innings after hitting a couple of boundaries but his stay at the crease was cut short before he could settle.

What caught everyone’s attention was Deepak Chahar’s celebration after the wicket. The fast bowler theatrically pretended to pull an imaginary chit out of his pocket and showed it to the crowd, poking fun at the trending celebration style that has become popular during the tournament.

Earlier in the match, KKR produced an excellent bowling performance to restrict Mumbai Indians to 147 for eight in this must-win encounter. Choosing to bowl first under cloudy conditions on a slow pitch, Kolkata dominated the powerplay and reduced MI to 41 for four.
Cameron Green and Saurabh Dubey picked up two wickets each, while Cameron Green also impressed with a brilliant running catch to dismiss Rohit Sharma.

Mumbai’s middle order struggled badly as wickets kept falling regularly. After a rain break, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy tightened the pressure by giving away only 14 runs in four overs. Sunil Narine also dismissed Hardik Pandya and finished with figures of 1 for 13.
Despite the collapse, Corbin Bosch played a fighting unbeaten knock of 32 runs, helping MI add 41 runs in the final three overs and post a competitive total.
