For millions of cricket fans, wearing the yellow jersey of Chennai Super Kings is considered a dream. Even though the IPL 2026 did not end the way the team had hoped, one player who truly enjoyed the experience was Sarfaraz Khan. The India Test batter completed his first season with CSK and later shared an emotional message for the franchise and its supporters after their campaign came to an end.
Sarfaraz Khan featured in eight matches during the season and scored 161 runs at an impressive strike rate of 169.47. His performances included one half-century and although the numbers were not extraordinary, the 28 years old cricketer managed to entertain fans with his aggressive batting style and energetic fielding.
After CSK suffered a heavy defeat against Gujarat Titans in their final league match on Thursday, Sarfaraz Khan posted a heartfelt message on social media. He shared a few pictures from the season and thanked the franchise and fans for their support, saying the experience would always remain special for him. He wrote, “The best two months that’s been. My heart will bleed Yellow…thanku so much @chennaiipl thank you csk fans.”

The loss to Gujarat Titans officially ended Chennai’s playoff hopes in what turned out to be another disappointing IPL season for the five-time champions. CSK won six and lost eight of their 14 league matches and failed to qualify for the playoffs for the third consecutive season.
The campaign was also difficult because of repeated injuries and poor batting performances throughout the tournament. One of the biggest talking points was that legendary captain MS Dhoni completed an IPL season without playing a single game for the first time in his career.
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad later admitted that injuries badly affected the team balance. He explained that the side struggled after injuries to players like Jamie Overton and Ramakrishna Ghosh, which forced the team to constantly change combinations during the tournament.
Ruturaj Gaikwad also said that CSK are currently going through a transition phase with many young and inexperienced players in the squad. According to him, more than eight to ten players in the team had played fewer than 20 IPL matches, making it one of the least experienced groups in the competition.
Despite the poor season, the captain remained proud of the squad for fighting hard and gaining valuable experience. While CSK fans may want to forget the IPL 2026 quickly, players like Sarfaraz Khan will still remember the season as an important chapter in their careers.
