1. Welcome to the Jungle:
Comedy lovers are eagerly waiting for Welcome to the Jungle, the third installment in the popular Welcome franchise. Last Christmas, Akshay Kumar surprised fans by unveiling the teaser and announcing that the film’s shoot had been completed. The makers have now officially confirmed June 26 as its theatrical release date.
2. 3 Idiots 2:
One of the most talked-about upcoming sequels is 3 Idiots 2. Actor Aamir Khan recently confirmed that the sequel is in development. He revealed that the second part will not only carry the same humour which made the original film iconic but also feature an unusual new story. The script is currently being written by director Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi.
3. Tumbbad 2:
Another highly anticipated sequel is Tumbbad 2. The first film, led by Sohum Shah, became a cult favourite after its release in 2018. Blending horror and Indian folklore, Tumbbad earned even more popularity after its 2024 re-release, which reportedly became the second highest grossing re-release of an Indian film.
4. Drishyam 3:
Fans are also excited for Drishyam 3. The mystery thriller franchise starring Ajay Devgn has been one of Bollywood’s most successful suspense series. Ajay Devgn officially announced the third installment, which is set for an October 2 release this year. The film has already gone on floors.
5. Golmaal 5:
Another major franchise making a comeback is Golmaal 5. Filmmaker Rohit Shetty officially announced the film in March this year. The sequel will bring back the franchise’s original cast, including Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, Tusshar Kapoor and Sharman Joshi.
