The investigation into the nightclub incident involving England Test captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson has taken a fresh turn, with reports now identifying the rugby player allegedly involved in the altercation.
According to a leading English newspaper, the player is Totoa Auvaa, a 21 years old rugby prospect from Saracens. Standing 6ft 5in tall and weighing around 125kg, Totoa Auvaa is regarded as one of the club’s promising young forwards. He was reportedly part of a group of Saracens players who were out in London on Sunday night following the end of the club’s season.
The incident is said to have taken place during the early hours of Monday at the Chelsea nightclub Rex Rooms. Reports claim that Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson were in the venue’s VIP area after England’s victory over New Zealand in the opening Test when a confrontation broke out involving the two cricketers, Totoa Auvaa and a member of the England security team.
Earlier reports suggested that during the altercation, a punch intended for Gus Atkinson struck a security official instead. The security staff member reportedly required stitches following the incident. Neither Stokes nor Gus Atkinson is believed to have been injured.

The controversy has created uncertainty not only around the players involved but also around Totoa Auvaa’s future at Saracens. Reports indicate that the young rugby player’s position at the club could come under scrutiny as authorities continue to gather details about what happened.
Meanwhile, the focus remains firmly on Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson. Both players are currently expected to miss England’s second Test against New Zealand, which begins on June 17. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has launched an investigation into the matter, with particular attention being paid to the fact that the two players were reportedly out beyond the team’s curfew.
The situation has also sparked questions about future of Ben Stokes as the Test captain of England. While no decision has been made, speculation continues to grow as the investigation progresses.

In an official statement, the ECB confirmed that it is looking into a possible breach of team protocols following the conclusion of the first Test against New Zealand. The board stated that Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson were present at the nightclub when the incident occurred and that further information is being gathered. The Cricket Regulator has also been informed, with the ECB saying an update regarding the squad for the second Test will be provided in due course.
