Smriti Mandhana added another remarkable achievement to her already impressive career on June 17, becoming the first cricketer in T20 International history, across both men’s and women’s cricket, to hit 600 fours.

The Indian star opener reached the milestone during India’s second Group A match against the Netherlands in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in Leeds. The left-handed batter from Maharashtra played a brilliant innings, scoring 74 runs from 47 balls. Her knock included 11 boundaries and one six, helping India dominate the contest.
Smriti Mandhana was well supported by Shafali Verma, who contributed 55 runs from 38 deliveries. Together, the pair stitched a commanding 115-run opening partnership that laid the foundation for a huge Indian total.
The 11 fours she struck during the innings took her career tally to 604 boundaries in Women’s T20 Internationals. She now sits comfortably at the top of the list for most fours in women’s T20I cricket.

New Zealand’s Suzie Bates is second on the list with 521 fours in 176 innings across 183 T20I matches, while Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu occupies third place with 493 fours from 159 T20Is.
Smriti Mandhana’s achievement becomes even more impressive when compared to men’s T20I records. Pakistan captain Babar Azam currently holds the men’s record with 477 fours in 136 innings across 145 T20Is. Ireland’s Paul Stirling follows with 449 fours in 163 appearances.
India’s aggressive batting display helped the team post 209 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The score also created another milestone, as India became only the second team after England to cross the 200-run mark in a Women’s T20 World Cup match.

England continue to hold the record for the highest team total in the Women’s T20 World Cup history. The hosts scored 219 for 1 against Sri Lanka in Birmingham on June 12, 2026.
For Smriti Mandhana, however, the night belonged to a record that no other cricketer, male or female, has ever achieved.
