A fresh chapter may have opened in one of Indian cricket’s most talked about rivalries. Former India cricketers Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth are once again making headlines after a public exchange that has caught the attention of fans on social media.

The latest development began when Sreesanth appeared on an interview, where he was shown an old photograph of himself and Harbhajan wearing boxing gloves. During the conversation, the former fast bowler issued an open challenge, inviting Harbhajan to step into a boxing ring and settle their long-standing differences.
The comments quickly went viral, reviving memories of the infamous IPL 2008 slap incident, when Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth after a match. The episode remains one of the most controversial moments in the IPL history.
Over the years, both the players have spoken publicly about the incident. Sreesanth has often discussed the emotional impact it had on him and his family, while Harbhajan has previously admitted feeling deeply affected when confronted about the matter by Sreesanth’s daughter. At one stage, it appeared that both the former teammates had moved on from the controversy.
However, the issue resurfaced after former IPL chairman Lalit Modi shared an unseen video of the incident. The debate intensified further when Harbhajan later appeared in an advertisement that referenced the episode in a humorous way.
Hours after Sreesanth’s latest challenge, Harbhajan posted a video on Instagram carrying a message about how people who talk the most often contribute the least. Although he did not mention Sreesanth by name, many fans quickly connected the timing of the post with the former pacer’s remarks.
Harbhajan said in the video, “Kisine bohot khub kaha hai ki karne do jo log bakwaas karte hain, hamesha khali bartaan hi to awaaz karte hain.”

The cryptic message spread rapidly across social media, with users interpreting it as an indirect response to Sreesanth’s challenge. Neither player has directly addressed the other’s latest comments since then.
With both the former Indian cricketers also being associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the exchange has generated even more interest. Whether this war of words ends on social media or moves somewhere else remains to be seen but fans are certainly watching closely.
