Ameesha Patel became an overnight sensation after making her Bollywood debut in the movie Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai opposite Hrithik Roshan in 2000. The romantic drama became a huge blockbuster and turned both actors into stars. Soon after, Ameesha also found success in Telugu cinema with the hit film Badri.
However, it was Gadar: Ek Prem Katha with Sunny Deol that truly changed her career forever. Playing the role of Sakeena, Ameesha became a household name across India. The film emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema and remains iconic even today.
Despite such a strong start, Ameesha later struggled professionally. Between 2002 and 2010, several of her films failed at the box office. She filed a legal case against her father, claiming that around Rs 12 crore belonging to her had been misused. The actress publicly defended her decision and stated that she was only fighting for what rightfully belonged to her. She also revealed that her grandmother supported her during the legal battle.
After spending years away from major success, Ameesha Patel finally made a grand comeback in 2023 with Gadar 2 alongside Sunny Deol. Returning as Sakeena after more than two decades, she once again connected emotionally with audiences. The film became one of the biggest blockbusters of the year and introduced Ameesha to a whole new generation of viewers.
More importantly, Gadar 2 proved that even after setbacks, true stars never lose their magic.
