Yuvraj Singh Breaks Silence On Rohit & Virat’s Future, Sends Strong Message To Gambhir & Agarkar

The future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in India’s ODI setup continues to be a major talking point and former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has now shared his views on the matter.

Speaking about the team’s plans, Yuvraj said India must maintain the right balance between experienced players and youngsters. He added that if the team management does not see senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as part of their plans for next year’s ODI World Cup, they should inform them as early as possible, even if it is a difficult decision.

The discussion comes after several reports earlier this week claimed that Rohit could be playing his final international match for India during the third ODI against England at Lord’s. The reports also suggested that the selection committee was not considering him for the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be held in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

However, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia later dismissed those reports, putting an end to the speculation.

Yuvraj said the decision on the team’s combination rests with head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. According to him, a successful team cannot depend only on young players or only on experienced cricketers, as both are equally important.

He also stressed that if the management wants Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to be part of the World Cup plans, they should give the duo complete clarity and back them with confidence. On the other hand, if they have decided to move in a different direction, the players should be informed directly. Yuvraj admitted such conversations would be difficult but honest communication would ultimately be appreciated.

Since Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket, their ODI futures have remained under constant discussion. Similar reports had surfaced last year, suggesting the two could retire after the Australia series, but those claims never came true.

Yuvraj also highlighted the immense contributions made by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to Indian cricket over the years. He said both the players have earned the respect of the team management and deserve to be treated with honesty and dignity while decisions about their future are being made.

We certainly agree with Yuvraj Singh, what about you?
