Success comes with a hidden price and National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee knows it better than anyone. In an old video that is now going viral again, the actor was seen having a heart-to-heart conversation with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. In the clip, he opened up about a deep guilt that he carried for many years of his life – the guilt of not being able to spend time with his parents while chasing his dreams.
He shared that the biggest sacrifice he made was his time with his family, especially his mother. He confessed that in a span of 20 years, he had not been able to spend more than 10 days with her. He said he still carries a strange sense of guilt that while running behind his dream, he left his parents behind.
Recalling a special moment, he said he had invited his parents when he was receiving his very first Screen Award. His parents had come and stayed for just two days. During that visit, while they were talking on the way, his mother gave him a lesson for life. She told him in her own simple way that a person should not be considered foolish just because he hasn’t become successful.
He shared another such honest memory from a visit to Delhi. He had gone there for two days. One morning after taking a bath, while combing his hair, he asked his mother how he was looking and if he looked good. To that, his mother lovingly but bluntly replied that with fame and money, even a donkey looks good.

Manoj Bajpayee was always very close to his mother Geeta Devi. She was a homemaker and was his biggest strength throughout his life. The actor has many times talked about how much his parents sacrificed and how they supported him during his very tough struggle to become an actor.
His mother p@ssed aw@y on December 8, 2022. She was 80 years old. She had been unwell for about 20 days and was being treated in a hospital in Delhi. Her passing came just about a year after the actor had lost his father in 2021.
