He’s still taking wickets for fun, still one of the most feared bowlers in T20 cricket, yet Bhuvneshwar Kumar hasn’t worn the India jersey since November 2022. And in a video that’s now gone viral, the veteran pacer finally said out loud what everyone’s been wondering: he wants to come back.
Bhuvneshwar had a stellar 2026 IPL season, playing all 16 matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and picking up 28 wickets as Rajat Patidar’s side successfully defended their title. He finished the season as the tournament’s second highest wicket-taker, which sparked fresh calls for his return to the Indian team. Despite that, he wasn’t picked for any of the three T20Is or two ODIs that India played after the IPL ended.
That snub hasn’t stopped former players, experts and fans from pushing for his comeback and now the man himself has weighed in. In an Instagram video that’s gone viral, the 36-year-old pacer from Meerut, who made his international debut back in December 2012 against Pakistan in a T20I, was told that everyone wants to see him back in Indian colours. His response, in simple terms, was that he wants the same.
The conversation then turned to his recent form in the UPT20 League, where he’d taken four wickets while conceding just 10 runs in a match. When asked if he could bring that kind of performance to the India team, Bhuvneshwar said, in short, that it would be great if it happened.

Bhuvneshwar remains the only pacer in the IPL history to have dismissed more than 200 batters and he’s played all three formats for India during his career. Since being picked up by RCB at the 2025 mega auction, he’s continued to deliver — 45 wickets in 30 matches for the franchise.
His recent form outside the IPL has been just as impressive. Playing for Lucknow Falcons in the UPT20 League, he helped the team reach the final, playing all 11 matches and picking up 14 wickets. His standout performance came in the first playoff match against Rinku Singh’s Meerut Mavericks on September 3 at Ekana Stadium, where he returned brilliant figures of four wickets for just 10 runs.
