Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh has hit back at reports that allegedly linked her to illegal financial activities. The actress took to Instagram to set the record straight and strongly denied the claims, saying that the reports were misleading and had affected her reputation.
Last month, reports claimed that the Income Tax Department had conducted searches at several locations connected to Bollywood actor Rakul Preet Singh, her father-in-law and film producer Vashu Bhagnani, and Panorama Studios in Mumbai.

Now, Rakul has clarified that the Income Tax search was not related to her. She also said that she has always followed the law and has been paying her taxes since she was 20. In a detailed Instagram note, Rakul criticised what she described as a growing trend of online reporters and some mainstream media journalists sensationalising stories without properly checking the facts.
Addressing the reports about the Income Tax search, the actress said that the search was not connected to her. She also highlighted her Armed Forces background and said that she entered the film industry without a godfather and built her career through hard work.
Rakul further stressed that she is a responsible and law-abiding citizen and has been paying her required taxes since the age of 20. She also strongly denied allegations of being involved in any illegal foreign remittances, either in her personal capacity or on behalf of any production house.
She clarified that she does not own any benami property for anyone, either in India or abroad. She also said that nobody has ever gifted her any property and that, as a matter of principle, she does not accept expensive gifts. Rakul urged media organisations that published what she called false, malicious and speculative reports to remove the stories from their platforms and issue clarifications.

She acknowledged that media organisations, regardless of their size, may face commercial pressures. However, she said such pressures should not come at the cost of facts, especially when someone’s reputation and livelihood are involved.
Meanwhile, Rakul Preet Singh is preparing for her next major project, Nitesh Tiwari’s “Ramayana”. The actress will play Surpanakha in the film and recently began dubbing for the project ahead of its Diwali 2026 release. Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Bhagwan Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
