1. Youngest player to sign an IPL contract
Rajasthan Royals bought the Bihar left-hander for Rs 1.1 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction in November 2024. He was 13 at the time, which made him the youngest player ever to land an IPL deal.
RR had seen him at trials before the auction. The price was well above what most uncapped teenagers get, and it raised plenty of eyebrows at the time.
Why it matters: It was the first sign that a franchise was ready to back him at the top level.
2. Youngest IPL debutant, with a six off his first ball
He made his IPL debut on 19 April 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur, aged 14 years 23 days. That is the youngest debut in IPL history.
He hit his very first ball in the IPL for six and went on to make 34 off 20 balls. It was a short innings, but it showed he was not going to play himself in slowly.
3. Youngest IPL centurion and youngest T20 centurion
Nine days later, on 28 April 2025, he scored 101 off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur while RR chased 210. He was 14 years 32 days old, which made him the youngest centurion in the IPL and in all senior T20 cricket.
He reached fifty in 17 balls and his hundred in 35. RR won the match by eight wickets. He hit 11 sixes, which equalled the Indian record for sixes in an IPL innings, held by Murali Vijay.
Why it matters: No teenager, let alone a 14-year-old, had done this in a top franchise league.
4. Fastest IPL hundred by an Indian
The 35-ball century against GT was the second fastest in IPL history, behind only Chris Gayle’s 30-ball hundred for RCB in 2013. It beat Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball hundred from 2010, which had been the fastest by an Indian for 15 years.
He came close to that mark again in 2026. His second IPL century, against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur in April 2026, came in 36 balls. The RR official site listed it as the third fastest IPL hundred when it was scored.
5. Under-19 records: fastest Indian Youth Test hundred
Before the IPL, he had already made headlines in junior cricket. Playing for India Under-19 against Australia Under-19 in a Youth Test in Chennai in late September and early October 2024, he scored a 58-ball hundred.
That was the fastest century by an Indian in Youth Tests and the second fastest in Under-19 Test cricket overall. He was run out for 104.
At the 2024 Under-19 Asia Cup in the UAE, he added 76 off 46 balls against the UAE and 67 off 36 balls in the semi-final against Sri Lanka. India finished runners-up.

6. Highest score in an Under-19 World Cup final
His biggest junior record came in the final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Harare on 6 February 2026. He scored 175 off 80 balls against England with 15 fours and 15 sixes. India won by 100 runs to lift the title.
The ICC confirmed it as the highest individual score in an Under-19 World Cup final, well past Unmukt Chand’s unbeaten 111 against Australia in 2012. It was also the highest score by an Indian in Under-19 World Cup history, passing Raj Bawa’s unbeaten 162 against Uganda in 2022.
The same innings carried more records:
- Fastest hundred in an Under-19 World Cup final, reached in 55 balls.
- Most sixes in a Youth ODI innings (15).
- First batter to hit 20 or more sixes in a single Under-19 World Cup, passing Dewald Brevis’s mark from 2022.
