Totoa Auvaa has been sacked by English rugby club Saracens with immediate effect following his involvement in a recent incident. Totoa Auvaa had previously attracted attention earlier this year after an altercation at a London nightclub involving England cricketers Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson.

During that earlier incident, Totoa Auvaa reportedly attempted to punch Gus Atkinson but missed and struck a security official instead. The security official required medical attention following the incident. The controversy also led the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to suspend Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson from England’s second Test in a three-match series against New Zealand.
Saracens confirmed Totoa Auvaa’s departure in a statement published on the club’s official website. The club said that Totoa Auvaa, who was part of its senior men’s academy, would leave immediately after an incident over the weekend. The club had concluded that his behaviour did not meet the standards expected of people representing Saracens, both on and off the field.

The club also stressed that it takes its responsibilities towards supporters, young people and partners seriously. It reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards of conduct across the organisation and said it would not make any further comments on the matter.
Meanwhile, an ECB investigation into the earlier nightclub incident found that both Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson had breached their contractual obligations. However, the board concluded that neither player should be held responsible for violent conduct.
According to the ECB’s findings, Ben Stokes was not involved in the altercation and did not witness either of the two incidents. The evidence reviewed by the board indicated that Gus Atkinson had been subjected to unprovoked attacks and had not retaliated on either occasion. Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson had been celebrating England’s victory over New Zealand in the first Test when the nightclub incident took place. However, both the players were found to have breached the team’s midnight curfew.

Despite the curfew violation, the two cricketers were let off with written warnings. Following the controversy, Ben Stokes returned to his role as England’s Test captain. However, his time in the team took an unexpected turn when he announced his retirement from Test cricket midway through the contest.
The latest development involving Totoa Auvaa has brought renewed attention to the earlier nightclub controversy, which had involved the rugby player and two prominent England cricketers. While Saracens have confirmed Totoa Auvaa’s departure following a separate recent incident, the ECB’s investigation into the earlier altercation concluded that Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson were not responsible for violent conduct.
