The famous Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner covering the whole lot, be it presidential elections or world leaders’ fall, has sued Hasbro for “emotional damage” over toy with same name and similar appearance.
The anchor in $5 million federal suit said that she went though “emotional damage”, as the firm named the toy Harris Faulkner, a hamster, small in size having blue eyes as well as butterfly perched on head.
As said by Harris in lawsuit, “Hasbro’s portrayal of Faulkner as a rodent is demeaning and insulting.”
The papers claimed, “In addition to its prominent and unauthorized use of Faulkner’s name, elements of the Harris Faulkner Hamster Doll also bear a physical resemblance to Faulkner’s traditional professional appearance, in particular tone of its complexion, the shape of its eyes, and the design of its eye makeup.”
The lawsuit further said, “Harris Faulkner, the uniquely named, acclaimed veteran journalist and author, has worked for decades to establish and maintain her personal brand and laudable professional reputation.”
“Hasbro’s manufacture, sale, and distribution of the Harris Faulkner Hamster Doll is extremely concerning and distressing to Faulkner” as well as “has caused substantial commercial and emotional damage to [her].”
This toy had been introduced by the company in the year 2014 an according to the anchor, she “put Hasbro on notice” in the beginning of 2015 regarding the similarities of the hamster in addition to its name which completely resembles that of the anchor’s; however, Hasbro kept on selling the toy for months.
The hamster isn’t on the list in the site of Hasbro, yet it’s available on Amazon as well as other shopping websites.
