India has taken one more step in its movement “Make In India” and this next move is in the direction of digitization. Govt. of the country is geared up for resurrecting India’s own OS called BOSS (Bharat Operating System Solutions). Centre for Development of Advanced Computing has developed BOSS’ extremely improved as well as secured version which is intended for govt’s official use and is expected to be released this very month. One of the chief motives behind this new Operating System is overcoming hacking vulnerabilities. DRDO, Gujarat Technical University as well as few private computer manufacturers have helped in developing this “LBS certified” Linux distribution.
National Resource Centre for Free/Open Source Software first developed BOSS in the year 2007; whereas its recent version had been released in the year 2013. Subsequently, it went through a number of changes so as to be appropriate for use and this latest version passed each and every attack test in the course of trial. What is more, it’s available in 18 different languages like Gujarati, Assamese, Marathi, Malayalam etc. Additionally, the OS boasts a bulk file converter as well as on-screen keyboard for making sure that data transfer is fast plus safe.
