Defamation Case Filed Against PM Modi By South Africa

A number of people must be knowing that PM Modi compared Parkash Badal, the political personality, with Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s father of nation and for the same, South African govt has lodged the case of defamation against Indian PM in International Court of Justice, Hague.

As stated by Narendra Modi, “There is a special family about whom pages are written in history even if their fingernails break. Very few people know that Badal Saheb is Nelson Mandela of India, who has spent nearly two decades in jail only because of political differences.”

Take a look at Modi’s tweet:

It was obvious for PM to be criticized on Twitter after such a tweet under hashtag #YoBadalSoMandela which was a way of protesting his statement.

To quote a tweet from a South African netizen, “It’s an insult to our Father of Nation by comparing India’s ordinary politician.”

For pacifying the country’s protest situation, South African govt. lodged a case of defamation against Modi, accusing him of insulting Mandela.

In the words of an officer of Federal Government of South Africa, “Our government filed a defamation case against the Indian Prime Minister Modi personally, but our relationship with India will not be affected. We share a strong relationship with India since centuries.”

According to an international law expert, “It’s a serious defamation case and International Court of Justice will act according to international law.”

As per an intellectual BJP & Modi follower, “South Africa used our father of the nation’s name with Nelson Mandela by saying South Africa’s Gandhi. So, we used the Nelson Mandela’s name to give respect to our respected leader Parkash Singh Badal by saying India’s Nelson Mandela.”

What is your opinion with regard to the matter? Do you think filing this case is right? Share your views in this connection in the comments section below.
