If you think that restaurants are just about good food, you will be proved wrong after reading what we are sharing in this article. From February 1, 2016 the first Indian underwater restaurant has started functioning. This restaurant is not just about food but also about the wonderful and unbelievable experience of dining and drinking in underwater surroundings.
This restaurant is situated in South Bopal area of Ahmedabad and it is named “Real Poseidon”. What would come to you as a great surprise is that even before it opened, it had 150 bookings.
Let us tell you some characteristics of this restaurant:
- The restaurant is below 20 feet from the ground level.
- 1,50,000 litres of water has been used to make this restaurant which spreads in the area of 3000 square ft.
- The diners will be able to enjoy vegetarian food of various cuisines such as Punjabi, Mexican, Thai and Chinese.
- 32 people will be able to sit at one time in the 1,200 square ft dining hall.
- The idea of live performances of orchestra or band is being thought about in order to entertain the diners.
- There are nearly 4000 species of fish and other aquatic animals which have been bought from the markets of Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Rajkot.

This underwater restaurant is the creation of Bharat Bhatt, an Ahmedabad-based businessman who gets due support from his wife Varsha in running this business.
In the words of Bharat Bhatt: “I had been part of building a restaurant back in 2004-05 and had been toying with this idea to float a restaurant with a novel concept since several years. Once we decided on this concept and we were sure it could be done, we started work on it.”
