Modi Govt Breaks Record In Throwing Out Illegal Occupants From Govt Houses In New Delhi

Modi government has made a record in evicting a high number of illegal occupants from the government bungalows in New Delhi.

On Wednesday, Babul Supriyo, singer turned politician and minister of state presented the data from urban development ministry which revealed that the houses vacated in 2015 were 746 while in 2014, the number was 539 and in 2013, under the UPA led Manmohan government, the number was just 246. Despite such a record breaking number of houses vacated, 1207 houses are still left to be vacated which are under illegal occupation in Delhi.

As per the information given by Babul in Lok Sabha, in the last three years, total 1531 houses have been vacated under the provisions of Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act. He also informed that the houses of higher type which come in the category of Type VB to Type VIII, 10 were vacated in 2013, while in 2014, the number was 69 and in 2015, the houses vacated were 20.

Babul also said that all these houses which are illegally occupied are 2% of the total houses which come under the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) in Delhi and houses of many categories are included in the 1207 illegally occupied houses.

Some politicians such as Vir Bhadra Singh, CM of HP and Buta Singh, former Home Minister have taken the legal route against their eviction from government house in Delhi, while one Type-VII house is occupied by Jaswant Singh, former Union Minister, who is very sick nowadays.
