Do you remember Jasleen-Sarvjeet case? Well, it had so many twists and turns? Let us highlight you about the case in few pointers:

  • Jasleen accused Sarvjeet for passing ‘obscene comments’ in public. Posted a status and his photo on Facebook profile.
  • Sarvjeet was arrested. Jasleen was awarded Rs.5000 for her bravery

Media instantly took sides and didn’t leave any scope for shaming the guy. Obviously the reason was simple: “JASLEEN WAS A GIRL”. They used words like ‘lout’, ‘eve teasing incident’, ‘harasser’ and ‘pervert’.

It is true that media should cover each and everything. But does this give them the right to be biased? This journalist without listening to Sarvjeet’s side, kept lashing out at him and kept blaming him. But now, this channel has fallen into trouble. Court has sent a legal notice to remove that particular video but you can watch another video from same channel that shows ugly truth of MEDIA TRIAL:-

According to the NBSA directive, Times Now is required to broadcast the following apology:-

“We regret that while reporting the interview of Mr Sarabjit Singh, who is accused of eve-teasing by Ms Jasleen Kaur, on 24.08.2015, we had failed to comply with Code of Ethics and Broadcasting Standards of NBA requiring broadcasters to maintain neutrality, impartiality, accuracy and fairness and also failed to follow the specific guidelines of NBSA relating to reportage of matters under investigation.”

As per the notice, the channel is asked for:

  • A PUBLIC APOLOGY ON THE 22nd of March 2016 on full screen with proper voice over!
  • A RS. 50,000 FINE!

This is definitely going to change the way other media houses are reporting the news! Good job!
