You may have seen a lot of beautiful waterfalls in your life but Covão do Conchos is so pretty and breathtaking that it will make you forget all other lovely sights of the planet; in fact for a moment, you may feel as if you are in some fantasy world.
Covão do Conchos is in the Conchos Lake in Serra da Estrela, situated near Guarda, Portugal. The construction of this small dam was done in 1955 and the tunnel of this dam is 4,984 ft tunnel long. Covão do Conchos means Hell’s Well and it seems perfect for this amazing waterfall.
The water flow in the waterfall in winter is very powerful but in summer, there is no water in it.
Nobody knew about this dam till 2014 until it was discovered by three Portuguese men when they were on a 2-hour walk from Serra da Estrela. These Portuguese were equipped with camera and other equipment and they made a complete recording of the waterfall before uploading it on the web. The video about the weird but gorgeous dam broke the Internet soon and now is being termed as one of the landscape treasures of Portugal.
