In an extremely awful incident in Chennai’s Arumbakkam, a 40-yr son burnt his mom (60) alive after tying her to a chair.
According to cops, Amarnath Prasad confessed that he murdered Sasikala, his mom, because she did not find him a bride and get him married.. The accused, a cab driver by profession, has been taken into custody by Arumbakkam cops and is charged with murder for which he’s been imprisoned too.
As per an official who investigated the matter, the accused frequently came home back late night and used to fight with Sasikala. She couldn’t move as she had leg injury and was able to just sit on her chair.
She had 2 other sons one of whom was living separately while the other died 5 years back. In the words of an official, “Sasikala lived with her son Prasad and her younger sister, a spinster.” He added, “Neighbours said they heard Prasad shouting at his mother on Saturday night.”
It was at 5:30 in the morning that neighbours heard Sasikala screaming for help and hurried for rescuing her. She was tied to a chair and was severely burnt. An ambulance was called and she was rushed to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital where Sasikala was diagnosed with 70% burn injuries and on Sunday noon, lost her life.
Sasikala’s dying declaration was recorded by cops before KMCH doctors; she informed that she was set on fire by Prasad on the basis of which he had been detained.
