It seems that stand-up comedian and actor Kapil Sharma who is considered as the king of comedy by his fans is not going to get peace or relaxation easily or rather we should say that his problems don’t appear to end soon. Earlier he had to end his popular show “Comedy Nights With Kapil” owing to dispute with the channel and now when he’s made a comeback with endless promotion on Sony with “The Kapil Sharma Show”, objections have been raised on his portrayal of nurses in a derogatory manner.
In “The Kapil Sharma Show”, Rochelle Rao is playing the role of a nurse and has been shown in a glamorous avatar. As usual, Kapil leaves no chance to flirt with her and this demeaning representation of nurses did not go well with Amritsar civil hospital’s paramedical and nursing staff who made an objection in the premises and protested on Monday.
In the opinion of a medical staff who demands cancelling the show, the comedian is mocking people from the medical field.
While Jasbir Kaur, sr. vice-president of Staff nurse welfare association, maintains, “The show has objectified nurses. It is vulgar and far from reality. It portrays our character and the profession in bad taste. We play an important role in society. The show is harming our image.”
Rochelle Rao’s Uniform Is Objectionable!
Rochelle Rao’s uniform in the show has highly been objected by doctors and burses for obvious reasons. In the words of Jasbir Kaur, “Such a uniform is not worn by nurses at least in this part of the country. Even doctors have been depicted in a derogatory way.”
“This is no way of depicting any profession. We feel insulted. Both doctors and nurses are well-educated, unlike what is being shown on the show,” states Government Mental Hospital’s nurse Jagir Kaur.
During the protest, sr. professionals like Dr. Sandeep Kalra, Dr. HS Ghai, Dr. Rajendra Arora etc. were present too. Nurses warned the comedian of protesting on the state level and laying siege to his Amritsar residence.
