Earlier this week when Maneka Gandhi proposed censorship of online trolls, Arun Jaitley, Union Finance Minister, expressed his disagreement with the same, terming it as impossible. As per Maneka, trolling women online on social media should be considered violence and the incident lately happened implies that she was correct and this idea should be given a second thought.
A right-wing troll made Priyanka Chaturvedi, Congress spokesperson, target by tweeting, “You should be raped and brutally killed like Nirbhaya. Madam why don’t you become Rahul Gandhi’s live in partner. Ha ha ha.”
The person posting the appalling tweet, @rajagra14219, is not much popular on social media but his tweet fanned the flames of growing threat of right-wing users’ online trolling.
Rajiv Agarwal’s profile suggests that he belongs to Mumbai and hence, Mumbai Police was instantly informed of the tweet after which Twitter user deleted his account.
