Meet Rini Khanna – The female voice behind English announcements
Former Doordarshan anchor, Rini Khanna is now a Voice-Over professional and the voice behind Delhi metro announcements in English. Rini has recorded prompts for every metro station in Delhi.
She is known for her deep and sharp voice, which sounds a bit robotic owing to lack of modulations. In an interview with a leading daily, Rini said;
“I am so used to hearing my voice on TV. But when I heard myself on a public transport for the first time, it took me by surprise. I then understood the importance of these announcements for the commuters”
Born in Kerala, Rini finished her schooling from 9 different schools in India, due to her father being an officer in Indian Air Force. From 1985-2001, Rini worked with Doordarshan and was a famous news anchor.
