Many people cannot afford those costly multiplex tickets and hence, they either wait for the premiere on TV or download free movies from torrent sites. “I think it happens with others too, as everyone wants to play the number game. And that’s the reason why ticket prices are going higher. If ticket prices are low, you will get a smaller amount in return, but footfalls will be higher. But no one wants to take that kind of risk.”

Moreover Salman also said that they had taken lot of risk with the 2014 movie Jai Ho. He says that even if a movie is a flop, the effect of failure must be ‘lessened’. He talks about Jai Ho which did a business of Rs 138 crores with ticket price of Rs 200 on weekends and Rs 100 on weekdays. Sallu says 138 crores is still a huge number and not many films touch it.

He adds;

“If we have to hit the Rs 200 crore mark, we will do with Rs 200 ticket, and not with expensive tickets.’ But it didn’t touch that figure. We will try that again with some other film as the ticket prices should come down. Numbers (box-office earnings) are increasing, but footfalls are decreasing. I don’t want that to happen,”
