Actress Priyanka Chopra who has achieved heights of fame in Hollywood has once again gained attention for her Bhojpuri movie!
Well, Priyanka has produced a Bhojpuri movie titled ‘Bam Bam Bol Raha Hai Kashi’, which stars Amrapali Dubey and Dineshlal Niarahua in lead roles. The movie was released on Friday but was welcomed with lot of hatred for its ‘raunchy’ content.
Reports say that many big names from Bhojpuri cinema have declared the movie as being very obscene. However, Priyanka feels that there is nothing wrong with the movie and the content is apt for regional cinema.
She was pretty pissed off with the response received. During the release of the movie in Patna on Thursday, Ms. Chopra asked “Is Hindi devoid of vulgarity?”. Moreover, she said that “I am myself fond of such latke-jhatke (thrills and frills) in movies,”
Reports say that Priyanka believes in box office collections and entertainment and she says “I want regional films to get a better platform”.
Basically, Bhojpuri is the mother tongue of Madhu Chopra, Priyanka’s mom, who also happens to be the movie’s co-producer. Madhu was born in Jamshedpur and had completed her initial schooling from there, due to which her emotional bonding with the state is very strong.
What Nitin N Chandraa has to say?
Reports say that Bhojpuri Director Nitin N Chandraa, whose movie ‘Mithila Makhan’ won 3 National Awards, is completely against this obscene content. It is an insult for ‘Padma Shri’ awards says the director.
Nitin adds;
“At a time when my mother tongue Bhojpuri is fighting for its existence, Priyanka has not only defamed herself but also besmirched her Padma Shri award by producing a movie like this,”
What has hurt Nitin is the risqué song sequences, double meaning dialogues and vulgar lyrics. However, Bihar’s Art & Culture Minister addressed Priyanka as ‘Bihar Ki Beti’ at the felicitation ceremony which Bihar State Film Development Corporation had organized.
