People were all set for the clash between 2 Khans this Eid! Yes, SRK’s ‘Raees’ and Salman’s ‘Sultan’ were supposed to be released this Eid and this was going to be the biggest Bollywood clash.
However, SRK decided to postpone the release of ‘Raees’ to 17th of January, thereby allowing ‘Sultan’ to have a solo release.
However, when Sultan was promoting his movie ‘Sultan’, the reporters questioned him whether Raees is being postponed due to Sultan. On this Salman replied
“I don’t think so. The film was not ready. And I think two big films should not clash it’s a loss of distributors and exhibitors. It’s nothing to do with Shah Rukh, or me but it’s the loss of distributors and exhibitors.”
He further stated about number of screens:-
“Right now we hardly have 5000 screens which then get divided with regional films. We don’t have that the bandwidth for such big films to release. Beyond Panvel, there are hardly any theatres, so such big films will never be able to release on the same day. I want certain amount of screens, he (Shah Rukh Khan) would want certain amount of screens so then it gets divided. Business also then gets divided. The industry is not growing at all. Only the ticket prices are growing and it just on a different ridiculous level of pricing.”
Do you remember when SRK was asked about this, he too had replied in a similar manner? Salman’s statement is absolutely right, it would not only create problems for exhibitors and distributors but would also create dilemma for the fans. However, we are glad that the clash isn’t happening anymore.
