After enjoying a successful theatrical run, Aamir Khan’s film “Sitaare Zameen Par” is now heading to YouTube for its digital release. Instead of choosing a major OTT platform like Netflix or Disney+ Hotstar, Aamir has decided to release the film directly on his own YouTube channel, “Aamir Khan Talkies”.
Audiences can now watch the movie which also stars Genelia Deshmukh from the comfort of their homes for just Rs 100.
To make the announcement, Aamir Khan enlisted the help of his sons — Junaid Khan and Azad Rao Khan — and the result was a light-hearted and self-deprecating video that quickly won hearts online. The video, filled with nostalgic references and humorous jabs, starts with Aamir discovering that his cook has been watching the film on his phone. When asked why, the cook explains that Junaid has come up with a new idea. The scene transitions to Junaid reenacting a famous dialogue from Aamir’s iconic film “Andaz Apna Apna”, humorously suggesting a quirky new plan for the film’s release.
Junaid recites one of the most famous lines of Aamir Khan from the film, “Aaj mujhe ehsaas hua, ki aap purush hi nahi, maha purush hain!” before revealing that “Sitaare Zameen Par” will be available on YouTube. He jokingly claims he turned down a massive Rs 100 crore offer to make this happen.
Aamir, staying in character, reacts with mock outrage, calling him useless, foolish and a “nepo kid”. Just as the father-son banter reaches a comic high, Azad Rao Khan makes a brief appearance, peeks into the room to witness the chaos and then quietly shuts the door. On the door is the official release date, August 1.

The video was quick to go viral, and fans responded with warmth and laughter. Many praised Aamir’s ability to poke fun at himself including taking digs at his past flops like “Thugs of Hindostan” and “Laal Singh Chaddha”. One fan wrote about how the video brought back fond memories of “Andaz Apna Apna”, especially enjoying Azad’s small but impactful cameo. Another comment admired Aamir’s comic timing even at 60 and his refreshing willingness to joke about his own failures. Others simply found the skit hilarious and expressed a desire to see more of Aamir and his sons sharing screen space.
By choosing YouTube as the platform and launching the release with a humorous and self-aware sketch, Aamir Khan has once again shown his ability to break the mold and it is quite praiseworthy as well. What do you say?
