Aamir Khan may have spent the past few months away from the big screen but the curiosity around his next move hasn’t faded. With rumours swirling that his ambitious project with Lokesh Kanagaraj had been quietly dropped, the actor finally decided to address the speculation himself. And instead of denying involvement, Aamir Khan chose to reassure fans, confirming that the film is still very much in conversation.
Speaking at an event, the 60 years old star explained that he and Lokesh had spoken recently and were waiting to reconnect for a detailed narration. He mentioned that the director planned to visit Mumbai soon so they could go over the story together, making it clear that nothing had been cancelled. His statement directly contradicted reports suggesting the project had been stalled after his cameo in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s recent film Coolie received mixed responses.
The speculation had grown stronger because neither Aamir Khan nor Lokesh Kanagaraj had publicly commented on the status of their film for weeks. Considering the scale of the project, described by Aamir earlier as a large superhero-style action entertainer expected to go on floors next year, fans feared it might have slipped away. The collaboration is particularly significant because it would mark Lokesh’s Bollywood debut, after delivering Tamil blockbusters like Vikram, Leo, Master, and Kaithi.
Alongside this project, Aamir Khan had also been in discussions with director Rajkumar Hirani for a biopic based on cinema pioneer Dadasaheb Phalke. However, reports now suggest that the film has been paused due to creative differences, shifting even more attention to the Lokesh collaboration.
Aamir Khan’s brief but impactful appearance in Coolie also added to the buzz about what he will take up next. In the film, Rajinikanth plays Deva, a daily wage worker seeking justice for his friend’s d*ath, while Aamir appears in the final act as Dahaa, a crime syndicate leader involved in organ trafficking. His cameo ends with an open threat, sparking speculation about a possible sequel.
With his latest clarification, Aamir Khan has renewed excitement among fans. The narration with Lokesh is still pending but he has firmly stated that the film remains on the table, proving that the door to this high-voltage collaboration is far from closed.
