“Aapko Apne Players Pe Trust Nahi Hai,” Amir Slams Babar Azam’s Captaincy During T20WC 2022

The England cricket team is the new T20 Champion of the World Cricket as it defeated team Pakistan in the finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 which was played yesterday at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Despite being a low scoring match, it was quite an exciting and thrilling encounter as the bowlers of both the teams bowled really well and made it difficult for the batters to score runs.

Just like the semi-finals against India, England once again won the toss and put Pakistan to bat first. The opener Mohammad Rizwan departed early at the score of 15 but skipper Babar Azam played a useful innings of 32 runs (28 balls, 2 fours) and he got a good partner in Shan Masood who scored 38 runs (28 balls, 2 fours & 1 six). However after they both got dismissed, no other Pakistani batter was able to score runs freely and the Pakistan team could manage only 137/8 in its stipulated 20 overs.

The target of 138 was certainly not enough for the English cricket squad, especially after it successfully chased the target of 169 without even losing a single wicket in the semi-final match against India. Abut because of some really superb bowling by the Pakistani bowlers, England also faced trouble in chasing this easy target. However, still the England cricket team achieved the target successfully with the help of unbeaten knock of Ben Stokes (52*, 49 balls, 5 fours & 1 six) and became the new T20 champion.

Though Pakistani fans are disappointed with this defeat of their team, they are not angry with the team and have even forgotten the defeat which Pakistan suffered at the hands of Zimbabwe in the tournament.

Nevertheless, Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Amir who is out of the team for quite a long time is not happy with Babar Azam’s captaincy in the final. While speaking on a news channel, he said that Pakistan’s bowling was the best in the tournament as no team was able to score runs freely against them and the whole credit goes to Pakistani bowlers for this. Amir then posed questions in regard to Mohammad Nawaz; he stated that he was not able to understand what was going on with Nawaz because after the first match, a video of Pakistani dressing room surfaced in which he is told by the skipper not to worry as he is the match-winner but after that, it was difficult to find out whether he played as a batter or bowler in the tournament.

Mohammad Nawaz didn’t even bowl a single over in the final match against England but in the semi-final match against New Zealand, he bowled two overs and also dismissed one Kiwi batter.

Mohammad Amir further said that it seems as if the skipper doesn’t have faith in the player and whatever he said was just for the sake of saying only. Amir further added that Nawaz threw the first over of the match in the Pakistan Super League so some trust should have been shown on him and he has made his team win those matches which are even difficult to dream of. Amir said that he just could not understand why Nawaz was not given the ball in the match because if there is seam in the wicket, spinners are more effective than pacers.

Talking about the match, Mohammad Amir said that England batter Harry Brook was having a tough time against Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz could have done something in this case but again they will say only one thing that Amir criticises them a lot. Amir also says that a skipper has to be brave as he needs to take some bold decisions but if a skipper doesn’t take such decisions and loses the match, these things are clearly visible.
