After IPL, T20 World Cup 2020 To Postpone Too. ICC Might Announce It The Next Week

The COVID-19 pandemic is still not under control despite the fact that the fight against the lethal virus started more than 2 months ago and we are still not clear as to how we will live our lives in future. There is no denying the fact that coronavirus has changed our lives to a great extent as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing will become a habit now and we will also avoid going to places which are crowded.

The sports world has also suffered badly due to the COVID-19 outbreak as all the sporting events have either been postponed or cancelled. One of the biggest sporting events of the world, the Indian Premier League 2020 has also been postponed indefinitely on account of the same and the chances of it being held this year were also pretty less considering the fact that the T20 World Cup is also scheduled later this year in Australia.

However as per the reports, the International Cricket Council (ICC) may announce the postponement of the T20 World Cup 2020 by the next week. Presently, the biggest concern of ICC and Cricket Australia (CA) is to find a new window for the T20 World Cup 2020. According to a report published in a leading daily, the CA may host the tournament in February/March next year and it will be a problem for BCCI and the English Cricket Board as England is scheduled to visit India around that time. It will again be a problem for BCCI as the fourteenth edition of the IPL will also start in April.

Things may get sorted in a little better way if BCCI allows Australia to organise the T20 World Cup 2021 and chooses to organise the T20 World Cup 2022. However if the T20 World Cup 2020 is postponed, it will leave a window for the IPL to take place but all will depend on the situation of COVID-19 and the big question at the moment is whether the government will allow the foreign players to visit India for the tournament.

Hopefully, things will improve soon! Till then, follow all the precautions given by the government and the medical experts, practice social distancing and stay at home to stay safe!
