Both Kohli and Gambhir are quite competitive and this is not the first time that we have seen them getting involved in a verbal duel as earlier in 2013 also, one such incident happened.

Soon Twitterati reacted and here are some selected reactions:

Today's argument was between Virat and Naveen, Mishra came to calm down Virat, then Gambhir after losing firstly talked umpire and complaining then took Mayers away from Virat then started arguing with Virat but Virat was calmly explaining his point then Mishra again intervened.

I was in the ground watching this match, Virat Kohli was way much aggressive on the field, had a banter with Mayers first, then Naveen ul Haq, then Mishra Ji as well

being good doesn’t make you right every time? no 1 knows what happen yet! generally in fights u see coach calming their players but the visuals this time were opposite.

Remember his innings in semi final and final 2011 WC. If there was no Gambhir I have my doubts that Trophy would have been with us. So much joy he bought to us. Respect him

Gautam Gambir is a gem of a person.. He will never invite fight until provoked.
Whereas kohli is always aggressive on the field having all BC, MC gallis in his mouth.
Problem was that he couldn't see a young player like Naveen taking 3 wickets.

Virat Kohli has problems with Anil Kumble, Ganguly, Gambhir and many others..while he is one of the greatest cricket player but should never be a role model for kids..abusing, arrogance and extremely disrespectful

Virat should not have turn the aggression into argument with Mishra.
Gambhir should also not have jump into the fight.
Equal fault of both.
But unnecessary aggression should not be shown in premiere leagues where players from different countries comes to play together as friend.

The incident took place because Virat Kohli and LSG batter Naveen-ul-Haq had an altercation in the 17th over of the LSG innings and then they again said things to each other while shaking hands after the match. Later on, Gautam Gambhir also had a heated discussion with Virat Kohli and after this incident, 100 percent match fees of Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli is fined while 50 percent match fees of Naveen-ul-Haq is fined as they are found guilty of violating the IPL code of conduct.
