The IPL team Chennai Super Kings will need to find a new skipper for the team as most probably the IPL 2024 will be the last IPL of MS Dhoni as the skipper and as a player too. MS Dhoni has been associated with CSK since the inaugural edition of 2008 and he is the most successful skipper of the IPL jointly with Rohit Sharma as they both had led their team in five IPL title wins.
CSK is currently the defending champions as it had won the IPL 2023 and MS Dhoni promised to play one more IPL just because of the love and respect that he got from the Indian cricket lovers. The 42 years old cricketer has also led his IPL team in 2 Champions League title wins and how we can forget to mention that he is the only skipper to win three ICC trophies – 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy.
The big question that the CSK team management will need to answer soon is about the player who will lead CSK after MS Dhoni retires. Ravindra Jadeja was appointed as the skipper of the Chennai team in the IPL 2022 but after continuous defeats, he gave up captaincy and once again MS Dhoni got the charge of the team.
Recently, the former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu who has also played for CSK appeared in a podcast and when he was asked whether there are talks regarding the new skipper in CSK, Rayudu stated that it is a little scary but ideally it should be Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Ambati Rayudu also added that he feels there won’t be much change as he sees MS Dhoni associated with CSK in some capacity and he is quite sure that the core culture of CSK will remain the same.
Who do you think will be the skipper of CSK after MS Dhoni quits?
