The demonetization on Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 has been taken on a positive note by common public but at the same time, it has also left many in a state of shock and confusion. The long queues for exchanging the old notes with new ones and the cash crunch at various branches are adding salt to the injury of those who are facing problems due to this decision.
Imtiaz Alam who is a public relations professional is also one of those persons. He was in the need of money as he had to make an official trip to Goa and there were some other expenses that needed to be taken care of too; however, the Jamia Cooperative bank, Jasola, was also facing cash shortage.

He stood in the queue for nearly five hours and requested the manager as he needed money urgently. Imtiaz told Indianexpress.com,
“The ATM at the bank has not functioned even once since demonetization came into effect. The bank too is perpetually low on cash.”
The manager asked him whether he would accept Rs 20,000 in Rs 10 coins, to which he agreed. Amazingly, the total weight of the coins was 15 kilograms.
He further added,
“I went to the manager and requested him to do something. He said they were receiving very little cash from RBI. I was persistent and then he asked if I am okay with Rs 20000 in Rs 10 coins and no notes. I agreed. In 15 minutes, they gave me the coins. I kept them in a bag, put it on my shoulder and walked out.”
We hope that this problem of cash shortage gets sorted out as soon as possible so that lives of common people get back to normal!
