In the midst of speculation surrounding Diljit Dosanjh’s exit from No Entry 2, director Anees Bazmee and producer Boney Kapoor have stepped forward to offer clarity. Reports had suggested that Diljit walked out of the project, which also stars Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor, due to creative disagreements. However, Boney Kapoor dismissed those claims, affirming that while scheduling conflicts exist, there’s no truth to the notion of creative fallout. He confirmed that efforts are ongoing to resolve the date-related hurdles.
Anees Bazmee, when asked about the matter, shared insights from his most recent meeting with Diljit. According to him, their interaction, only the second time they had met, lasted a brief ten minutes and focused solely on coordinating schedules. With Boney Kapoor also present, the conversation revolved around working through the logistical challenges, not any artistic misalignment.
Anees Bazmee who has grown accustomed to industry rumours remained unfazed, expressing a belief that whatever unfolds will be for the best and doesn’t require justification.
Anees Bazmee went on to express genuine admiration for Diljit, both as a person and as a performer. Reflecting on their initial interaction, he recalled that Diljit committed to the film almost immediately after hearing the basic premise. The actor, known for his roles in Amar Singh Chamkila and Good Newwz, did not wait for a full narration. He was won over by the idea of a comedy featuring three heroes and the legacy of No Entry, a film he confessed had left him in splits. Anees described him as sincere, humble and uncomplicated, a rarity in the industry.
Although there is still no definitive word on whether Diljit will remain a part of the ensemble, Anees Bazmee remained calm and unaffected. He acknowledged that not every actor he has worked with was his first choice and that casting shifts are not uncommon. Yet, time and again, those decisions have proven successful, with audiences embracing the final performances as irreplaceable.
Currently, Anees Bazmee is focused on launching No Entry 2, a project long in the making, and is optimistic about it going on floors soon. Meanwhile, he is also preparing for the release of his Marathi production debut Jarann which will hit the theatres on June 5.
