Angry Twitter Slammed Smriti Irani For Killing Rohit Vemula, Dalit 2nd Yr Ph.D Student

#SackSmritiIrani is trending on Twitter as people are expressing their outrage on the suicide of Rohit Vemula, a Dalit second year student of Ph.D at University of Hyderabad.

Rohit was also a member of Ambedkar Students Association apart from being involved in the protest made by ASA against ABVP for attacking the Montage Film Society in Delhi University, which was showing “Muzaffarnagar Baaqi Hai”, a documentary movie based on the Muzaffarnagar riots. After this protest, the matter took an ugly turn when a local ABVP leader made allegations against the ASA members and the enquiry report confirmed the allegations. However the students and members of ASA claimed that the action is being taken on the behest of RSS and ABVP. The university administration suspended 5 students and Rohit was one of them.

It is said that the Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya has also played an important role in the suspension of students as he was the one who sent Smriti Irani a letter and forced the university to suspend the students.
